Step 1 Register |
Register and indicate which training session you
will attend. A training class
at Cambridge
Boat Club is required of umpires living close
to Boston. Remote umpires review online materials
and take a test if they are new.

Register and indicate if you would
like to take an online test or attend a training session. USRA
referees are not required to attend training but must pass test
to officiate.

Step 2 Pass Exam |
New umpires must pass
exam given at end of training session. |
Pass exam emailed to you in September. |
Step 3 Team Assignment |
The most experienced and highest
scoring umpires will be assigned to teams. |
Step 4 Team Meetings |
Team meetings can be
conducted online within discussion group. The lead umpire will
review roles, preparation, and process. |
Step 5 Officiate at Regatta |
One day minimum. Two is preferred.
If you are a lead Umpire, all sessions are required. |
Step 6 Be Available for Appeals |
Available via cell phone 48 hours
after regatta in case of appeal. |
